Heart Check Needed
All of us need a heart check from time to time. However, instead of a visit to the cardiologist what we need is a brutally honest self-analysis.
It’s so easy as we accumulate, as we succeed, as we prosper to feel good about what we have done and accomplished. The more we congratulate ourselves, the more likely we are to forget what God has done and how He provided.
God cautions us about perspective and pride through the prophet Moses in Deuteronomy 8:10-14 “When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Be careful that you do not forget the Lord you God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.”
With our heart check let’s abandon pride, stay obedient to all God teaches us in Scripture, and give all the glory to God for the lives we are blessed to live.
