The biblical account of Zacchaeus (Luke 19:1-10) is an awesome example of a man who experienced true conversion.
Zacchaeus was a tax collector. He had become rich by taking advantage of the poor. But when Jesus invited himself to Zacchaeus’ house, he was stunned by the blessing and by our Lord’s willingness to reach out to someone like him.
Zacchaeus was so grateful that he said (v. 8), “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything I will pay back four times the amount.”
Salvation through Christ transforms lives, including how we view money and the poor. Imagine our Lord’s delight as replied to Zacchaeus (v. 9) “Today salvation has come to this house!”
Have our lives been transformed? Do we view everything differently because now we are Christ followers? Does this include how we view money and the poor?
