God Has a Plan for Your Life

American culture tells us that we can become anything we want to be.  Thus, we dream, we make our plans, and we do what we want to do.  After all, our country’s Declaration of Independence grants us the right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”

There’s just one problem:  God already has a plan for our life!
The Bible tells us that “we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  Thus, one of our great challenges as Christ-followers is to discern God’s great purpose for our life.

Remarkably, we will experience great synergy when we walk with God according to His plan for our lives.  Suddenly, we discover that the very way that God “knit us together in our mother’s womb” dovetails perfectly with His great plan for our life.  That’s because “all the days ordained for man were written in your book before one of them came to be.”  When we walk with God, suddenly our life makes sense and we feel God’s pleasure in all that we do.

Part of God’s great plan for every person is for us to spend eternity with Him in heaven.  We have to cooperate with Him on this.  We have to want it.  We have to make a decision to believe and ask Christ to be our Lord.  “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  Making this decision is the first step in our journey with God.
